My elective week ended with archery... Nothing much, just arrowing the target board. Archery is not practical in real life, since there are too many people out there who are naturally good at arrowing without professional training.

While on the bus, I had to listen to this crappy philosophy of someone who sat behind me. This guy spoke in a revolting accent. He claimed (to the girl beside him) that he is a humanist" who doesn't believe in god and believes only in his pathetic self. (Sorry to this girl, but this guy's just trying to prove he believes in himself). He argued that people merely put a "stamp" of Buddha over holy teachings, just to make people conform with the holy teachings. Similarly in the case of jihad, people "stamped the name Allah" to back the idea of an holy war. So this guy preached that humans shouldn't do what the holy scriptures teach just because of fear of the god(s). And he implied that humans shouldn't fear god and people who conform are stupid.

The most abhorrent part of his speech was that he dislikes churches because they are rich. Two tight slaps for this anti-Christ.

Ironically, this chap was from St Andrews Junior. He spoke with a tone of disgust when he recollected the time he had to pledge in front of the cross his services to the school and God during his prefect investiture. And he claimed that he had a "heart of peace" when he went to Chinese High which was very "secular". He sounded really happy upon that note. Then, he ended his speech and the conversation trailed on to Communism (as usual).

When it was time to alight from the bus, I turned around to look at this freak of nature. He looks kinda weird, anyway. May God help him.

Saw TIB489G on 963 in full SMRT livery today

Had a fun time playing Flight Simulator from 9-4pm today as part of my enrichment programme. Time flies. If only life could be like this all the time...

Today was my first time I boarded a SMRT bus (TIB498E on 171) with only the front painted. Was on my way home from HCJC. Sat opposite 2 ACS junior boys who talked and laughed cheekily. One was wearing a pair of blue-framed spectacles... Thought he sorta resembled myself when I was in sec1.

I finally caught a glimpse of the new SMRT bus (TIB1150B) along Bukit Panjang Rd last Monday. It broke down and it looked very much like a derailed SMRT train carriage on the road. Lined up beside it was a sleek 960 Habit in Trans-Island livery, a very big contrast to my dislike.

Meanwhile, I can't believe that I actually paid $60 to play flight simulator for my Enrichment Week. Even so, it's still a cheaper alternative to Microsoft Flight Simulator. I can't expect hands-on flying, do I? If that's the case, I won't be able to join Aviation Science given my horrendous myopia -- just 100 degrees away from an ominous 4-digit figure.

Today I went back to *ahem, NJ to claim my CIP hours. Groups of NYgirls and SCGirls flocked in to sign up for NJ's IP programme. I wish NJ success and I hope they'll seriously tap on these first-class resources by providing them a first-class instituition first.

The latest investment is a pair of Okaley spectacles. Got it last Friday 14May and wore it to school on a Saturday 15May.

In the Wheels of a Bus

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, my driver bade me a goodbye that left me heavy-hearted as he drove me to my Woodlands home. Seems like he was bidding goodbye to my coat more. He told me that I would be given a rest the next day as I would be given a complete image makeover - my cheerful orange, yellow and cream coat will have to give way to a "distinctive" black and red coat. This is part of SMRT's move to integrate its brand name from 10 May 2004.

Now, I sit inside the spray booth. The white paint will soon mask my colourful past. I feel ill at ease about Ms Saw and the red ribbons awaiting my arrival tomorrow at this grand, joyous ceremony where SMRT trains, Tibs buses and taxis will merge as one. Mr Tan will be there too, but like me, both of us will choke on tears behind our smiles. Even if tears shall flow, it will be tears of sorrow.

Perhaps the bus fans will share my sorrow. But is there anything they could do? I share their feelings of disgust towards my black rims. Just like the flapping of a butterfly wings can set off a tornado somewhere, a word from a leader can override all public opinion. Soon, SMRT buses will sweep across Singapore roads, and this change, like a tornado, is much unwanted.

Signed,
TIB972C, A once-smiling Tibs Mercedes Benz
