Cameron Highlands

The Malaysia trip last weekend with the family was good! Weather was sunny when we set off on the fist day. The first day was spent at KLCC, sight-seeing and shopping. The view from KL Tower was great!

At night we patronised the roadside hawker, which was a nightmare for someone (me) born after the extinction of Singapore roadside hawker and who patronises only hawker centres which have been upgraded. Lots of touting by the hawkers, who were selling the same thing - tzu-cha. Talk about perfect competition. The family settled for claypot rice and soup at a less-patronised store. The hawker offered "home-made chestnut drink", to which I politely refused because the thought of the drink hawkers making the with tap water made me nauseous. Mum laughed because she knew I'd order a canned drink. Then the utensils came. I took the one with the least black stains and forced the food down my throat. That was initially, because hunger soon took over and I finished the rice!

We spent the night at KL and drove up to Cameron Highlands on the second day. Reached Cameron Highland late afternoon, was cool and sunny.

I was lamenting that the lack of clouds didn't make it seem like a highland resort. Then my wish came true - it was raining all the way till we left on Monday morning. Really foggy, windy and cold (which made the steamboat taste more delicious too!).

Of course we visited Cameron Highland's tea plantations, but those at lower altitude, to avoid the clouds. The bright green tone of the tea leaves was very captivating.

This trusty car brought us from Singapore to Cameron Highlands and back. The English-looking cottage behind the car is somebody else's accommodation. :p

We had steamboat for lunch at Tanah Rata, a village at a lower altitude.

Had a lavish dinner at the hotel restaurant that night, which was the right choice because it was really very cold outside. The waiter knew I was joking when I told him I wanted al-fresco dining. The next morning we packed up and headed home!
